Please read the following safety guidelines and rules of conduct before arriving for your appointment.

OPEN GYM SAFETY GUIDELINES

Our intention is to provide a safe environment for advancing your Pilates practice.  By attending Open Gym Hours you agree to the following:

  1. You must have attended at least 5 Pilates Equipment classes (or receive instructor permission) before you can attend Open Gym Hours.
  2. Use the equipment safely and only as intended.
  3. Work out at your own risk.
  4. Only practice exercises you have already learned in a supervised setting. In particular, advanced exercises that involve balancing on the Reformer carriage (advanced Lunges, Side Splits, Star, Snake/Twist), standing on the seat of the Chair (Going up Front/Side), inversion exercises (Short Spine massage, Pikes on Chair) should only be attempted by experienced students.
  5. Notify staff immediately if you need help with equipment or observe any safety concerns.
  6. Refrain from coming to the studio if you are feeling sick.
  7. Independent Pilates practice is restricted to people 18 years or older.

The studio will be monitored by someone who is experienced with the Pilates equipment.  They can help you navigate basic questions about proper equipment use and safety, however you will not be under the supervision of a qualified instructor. Please do not attempt exercises that are risky or that are above your experience level.  Failure to adhere to any of the above agreements could result in losing Open Gym Hour privileges.

If you have any questions, please email pilates@chaturangafitness.com.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Equipment and springs vary by manufacturer.  If you are unfamiliar with the variations in equipment, search for videos that feature the equipment that we have:

  • Balanced Body Allegro Reformer/Tower Combo
  • Balanced Body Exo Chair (aka Wunda Chair)
  • Balanced Body Pilates Arc

Exercise mindfully.  Always listen to your body and adjust movements and spring tension accordingly.  Only attempt what is within your capability.  Ask for help if you need it.
